Reclaim Belonging. Come home to Country. Embody Sovereignty. Embrace Community.

At The Somatic Sovereignty Collective, we envision a world where the threads of belonging are rewoven — where Aboriginal women, children and non-indigenous allies remember their inherent connection to body, earth, culture and kin.

We dream of communities rooted in reciprocity and reverence, where healing is not an individual pursuit but a collective ceremony — a remembering of our place within the living web of life.

Our vision is to restore unity in the places colonisation has divided us: between human and nature, past and present, body and land, self and community, seen and unseen.

Through somatic, cultural and ecological practices, we are cultivating a movement of soul-making — one that honours the wisdom of Country, the guidance of ancestors and the wild intelligence of the body.

We walk together toward a future grounded in truth, tenderness and sovereignty — a future where all beings can belong.

About Us

"Once you start approaching your body with curiosity, instead of fear, everything shifts."

BESSEL VAN DER KOLK

A Time of Descent.

We are living through a collective descent — a time of unraveling and remembering.

The climate is shifting. Our Earth is in crisis.
Culture is fragmenting. There is a deep ache of disconnection.
The familiar scaffolding is falling away.

Mythically, we have entered the underworld — a terrain of shadow and silence, where we are called to grow new eyes.

This is not a place of punishment or failure.
It is a place of initiation.
The descent is holy.

The Holiness of Darkness

Colonial culture taught us to rise —
to strive, to ascend, to succeed.

But soul work happens in the dark.
In the unseen.
In the slow hum of roots and mycelium,
in the breath of grief,
in the listening silence of night.

Here, healing ripens.
Here, ancestors whisper.
Here, imagination becomes medicine.

We are learning to see in the dark —
to value the descent as sacred ground,
a place of transformation, gestation and rebirth.

The Ways of Soul

Soul is not a concept. It is a way of seeing — a remembering of our wild entanglement with all things.

It draws us toward tenderness, loss, intimacy and beauty.
It keeps us close to ritual, to longing, to the forest of imagination.

To walk with soul is to walk the path between sovereignty and intimacy — belonging to ourselves and to the living world that holds us.

Wunya! (Hello)

Through Somatic Sovereignty, an Aboriginal owned and operated business, we create spaces to remember the old ways — and imagine new ones.

Our in-person and online gatherings weave together:

  • Somatic and expressive arts therapy.
  • Eco-therapeutic and nature-based practice.
  • Aboriginal ways of knowing, being and belonging.
  • Cross-cultural healing pathways that honour ancestry, body and place.

We support:

  • Aboriginal women and children reconnecting to body, culture, kin and Country.
  • Non-Indigenous allies seeking to decolonise their healing journey.
  • Communities longing to reweave the thread of belonging.

And for those who hold others for a living — counsellors, psychotherapists, psychologists and social workers — we offer training and mentorship that invites a return to embodied presence, to soul-tending and ritual literacy, to the kind of learning that remembers its sacred origins.

These gatherings and trainings are not separate streams — they flow together, feeding a culture of healing that is relational, reciprocal and alive. Together, we cultivate a deep relation with the unseen. This is the work of soul — personal, collective and ancestral.

An Invitation

Come sit with us in the dark.
Listen for what still lives beneath the noise.

Let your nervous system rest in the rhythm of the earth.
Let your heart remember what it already knows.

Here, we are tending the roots.
We are re-membering the body of belonging.
We are learning to see in the dark — together.

Acknowledgement of Country

We respectfully acknowledge the Gubbi Gubbi people as the original custodians of the stolen land on which we live and work, and we honour their enduring connection to country. We extend our gratitude to all peoples worldwide who maintain respectful, humble and wise relationships with the earth and each other. We acknowledge that Sovereignty was never ceded and that colonisation continues to impact our First Nations people today.  We support decolonisation through truth telling and treaty.  Always was, always will be, Aboriginal Land.

We Celebrate Diversity!

At The Somatic Sovereignty Collective, we create a welcoming space where every body feels seen, respected and valued. Diversity enriches our shared journey of healing and growth.

While our focus is on womxn (and children), we use this term inclusively to honour all who identify as female or non-binary, including transgender womxn, sistergirls and those outside traditional gender norms. Our intention is to respect and uplift the full spectrum of identities with care and equity.
